My body serves as my proxy

As I step out of my mind

A much needed sabbatical

From the chaos inside

Forgive my vacant stare

As I drift away from all this

I slip back through time

To a place of fading bliss

The moon’s light reflects

A tender kiss by the water

While the strings of my heart

Strain with play and falter

Conducting a silent reverie

That falls on deaf ears

A song for the unrequited

Stretching across the years
