Sharpen your tongue on me

The savagery of your words

Will wear away little by little

With each stroke of your blade

Against my cold smooth surface

I am impermeable to the onslaught

As you come down harder on me

Sparks will catch and flicker out

They might reflect off my face

But they cannot burn me

When you are done striking

I fear for those you will find

And seek to use your weapon on

I can only hope they hear my song

The scraping of steel on stone

And that they ready themselves

Hardening their hearts against you

To fight back when you attack
