A scorched earth love

Brings me to my knees

As the carrion crow

Circles above me

Your embrace becomes

A chokehold

Your kiss

Steals my breath away

How do I walk away

From all this destruction?

How do I rebuild

These broken parts?

Where do I lay my trust

Or lay my head

When the one

Who sleeps next to me

Is the source

Of all this calamity?

The bed is on fire

My screams muffled

In the smoke

Rising from our bodies

My tears cannot

Extinguish the flames

What did I do to deserve

This savage reckoning

At your hands?
